For 2025 entry, the University of Leicester(莱斯特大学)assesses a Chinese bachelor's degree against the UK degree class your target course asks for. The China table gives two routes: institutions on the university's priority List, and non-list institutions or self-study qualifications. The lowest published average is 65% for a List institution when the course accepts a UK 2:2. For a course that asks for a UK 2:1, the published averages are 73% for List institutions and 75% for non-list or self-study qualifications.
The 2025 China score matrix
The table below converts the published decimals into percentages. A figure such as 0.82 means 82%.
| UK degree class your Leicester course asks for | Priority List institutions | Non-priority List institutions / self-study qualifications |
|---|---|---|
| UK First | 82% | 85% |
| UK 2:1 | 73% | 75% |
| UK 2:2 | 65% | 70% |
So the absolute minimum depends on two facts: whether your Chinese institution is on the priority List, and whether your course accepts a UK 2:2. If either condition is not met, the required average rises.
Which courses require a higher class?
The 2025 table separates courses that recruit at UK 2:1 from courses that recruit at UK 2:2. A 2:1 requirement means the higher average row applies. A 2:2 requirement means the lower average row applies.
| Minimum UK class listed in the 2025 table | Subject areas |
|---|---|
| UK 2:1 | Archaeology; Computer Science; English (English Studies, English Studies and Linguistics, Modern Literature, Creative Writing); Modern Languages; Health Sciences (Healthcare Quality and Safety, Applied Health Research); History; School of Arts; Actuarial Science; Museum Studies; Physics and Astronomy; Politics and International Relations; Sociology; Media |
| UK 2:2 | School of Business; Molecular and Medical Biosciences; School of Chemistry; Education; School of Engineering; English (Applied Linguistics and TESOL, TESOL); Health Sciences (Diabetes) |
If your target course appears in the 2:1 group, check your average against the 2:1 row. If it appears in the 2:2 group, check it against the 2:2 row. Do not assume that a similar course title will use the same row.
How the priority List and non-list route work
The university maintains a priority List of Chinese institutions. If your Chinese bachelor's institution is on that List, use the List row. If it is not on the List, use the non-list row. If your qualification is self-study or self-examination, the table places it with the non-list row, so the higher averages apply.
The table does not ask you to judge your university by general reputation. The relevant question is whether the institution appears on the university's own published List. Use that List, not informal rankings or agent summaries, as the first check.
Study modes and blocked modes
The 2025 China table does not include a separate list of blocked study modes. The only mode-specific route stated in the China table is self-study or self-examination, which is grouped with non-list institutions and therefore uses the non-list averages: 85% for a UK First, 75% for a UK 2:1, and 70% for a UK 2:2.
If your bachelor's degree is delivered through a mode not covered by the table, the published China rule does not give a separate score. Ask admissions to confirm before you apply.
English language requirements
The 2025 China entry table summarised here does not set out English language scores. Check the English requirement for your specific course on the University of Leicester official site. An academic score check and an English language check are separate steps.
