University of Aberdeen(阿伯丁大学)China entry requirements: minimum scores for Chinese bachelor's degrees

Published:

University of Aberdeen(阿伯丁大学)sets its 2026 taught master's entry for Chinese bachelor's graduates mainly at a 65% overall arithmetic average. A lower 60% bar applies in specific school-and-institution combinations. These thresholds come from the university's own China entry-requirements sheet, updated 30 October 2025.

The two minimum tiers

For most postgraduate taught programmes, the requirement is a 65% overall arithmetic average across the bachelor's degree.

Lower bars exist for two groups:

The university maps these to UK degree classes. Business School conversion courses list a "3rd (Third class)" entry level. Engineering and most other programmes list "2:2 (lower second class)".

Which schools set which bar

School / Faculty China average requirement
Business School (conversion courses) 60% for 双一流; 65% for others
School of Engineering 60% for 211/985; 65% for non-211/985
Most other schools (Social Science, Medicine/Medical Sciences/Nutrition, Biological Sciences, Geosciences, Natural and Computing Sciences, Divinity/History/Philosophy, Language/Literature/Music/Visual Culture, and standard Law routes) 65% overall

Programmes using the 65% overall rule include Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Environmental Management, Archaeology, Creative Writing, and many more on the full list.

Law programmes: both overall and core averages

Several School of Law programmes require 65% in both the overall and the core course arithmetic averages, not just the overall:

Energy Transition Law routes (with Dissertation / with Professional Skills) require 65% overall.

How to self-check before applying

Open the official postgraduate taught degree programme list on abdn.ac.uk. Find your programme and note its School. Check the China requirement line for your institution category. Confirm whether the rule is overall-only or overall-and-core. Verify the intake month and tuition fee on the same programme page. The sheet covers Full Time Postgraduate Taught programmes and does not list English language requirements; confirm those and any other study mode on the official prospectus. The sheet is a guide and does not guarantee entry; the live prospectus on abdn.ac.uk is the definitive source.
